What if a large part of your knowledge about coffee is built on formulas and myths? The Curriculum does not reproduce them. It offers learning beyond familiar frames and reorganizes how you understand coffee from the ground up. It encourages critical and scientific work with coffee, as well as ethical business and marketing practice.
In The Curriculum, there are no knowledge exams and no certificates. Instead, we offer training in creative thinking and problem-solving, along with the opportunity to learn with other learners and to build close relationships with The Trainers that extend beyond the duration of the course.
Role in The Better Coffee Endeavour
The Curriculum is an educational structure. It provides learning about The Better Coffee, as well as about specialty and commodity coffee. It is open both to coffee people and to those beginning their relationship with coffee, with access supported through Three-Tier Pricing and the Pay-It-Forward mechanism.
It is closely connected to the structure of The Trainers. They lead the 10 courses, carry out The Ranking Method, and provide ongoing support to learners and The Places. Through shared rituals, The Curriculum also serves to integrate The Better Coffee Endeavour.
Together, it supports shared action within the system.
How it works
The Curriculum consists of 10 interdisciplinary courses. They cover coffee agriculture and the processing of coffee berries, brewing, the biology and chemistry of coffee, fermentation and roasting processes, flavor profiling and sensory analysis, as well as ethical marketing and business and trade practice.
Some courses are delivered online—we adapt schedules to time zones and the working rhythms of participants. Others are organized in person, depending on needs and possibilities, either in well-equipped training spaces or in locations where coffee education faces infrastructural barriers in other educational systems.

The Curriculum is designed for every coffee person. You do not need prior knowledge or certifications to take part in the courses.
Access is supported through Pay-It-Forward—you either contribute to shared access or join courses when cost is a barrier for you.
